On July 29, 2016, ASB Bancorp, Inc., the holding company for Asheville Savings Bank, S.S.B., issued a news release announcing its unaudited preliminary financial results for the three- and six-month periods ended June 30, 2016. A copy of the news release is included as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and is furnished herewith.

Beginning August 2, 2016, the Company will participate in the Keefe, Bruyette & Woods 2016 Community Bank Investor Conference and will make available and distribute to analysts and prospective investors a slide presentation. The presentation materials include information regarding the Company's operating and growth strategies and financial performance. The presentation materials will also be posted to the Company's Investor Relations website on July 29, 2016. Pursuant to Regulation FD, the presentation materials are attached hereto as Exhibit 99.2.
