On January 26, 2021, Vir Biotechnology, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing initial data from its ongoing Phase 1 clinical trial of VIR-3434 for chronic hepatitis B virus (“HBV”) infection, which demonstrates significant and rapid reduction in HBV surface antigen. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
On January 27, 2021, the Company, Eli Lilly and Company (“Lilly”) and GlaxoSmithKline plc (“GSK”) issued a press release announcing that the first patient was dosed in Lilly’s expanded BLAZE-4 clinical trial. Lilly has expanded its ongoing BLAZE-4 trial to evaluate the administration of bamlanivimab (LY-CoV555) 700mg with VIR-7831 (also known as GSK4182136) 500mg, two neutralizing antibodies that bind to different epitopes of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, in low-risk patients with mild to moderate COVID-19.
