FSIC II Reports First Quarter 2017 Financial Results

 

PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 12, 2017 – FS Investment Corporation II (FSIC II), a business development company (BDC) focused on providing customized credit solutions to private middle market U.S. companies, announced its operating results for the quarter ended March 31, 2017. FSIC II will hold a conference call to discuss these results at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, May 19, 2017. Information for those interested in participating in the call can be found below.

 

Financial Highlights for the Quarter Ended March 31, 20171

 

Net investment income of $0.21 per share, compared to $0.20 per share for the quarter ended March 31, 2016.
   

Net increase (decrease) in net assets resulting from operations of $0.33 per share, compared to ($0.04) per share for the quarter ended March 31, 2016.
   

Paid regular cash distributions to stockholders totaling approximately $0.19 per share.

 

Portfolio Highlights as of March 31, 2017

 

As of March 31, 2017, the fair value of FSIC II’s investment portfolio was approximately $4.6 billion.
   

Committed approximately $393.9 million to direct originations during the quarter ended March 31, 2017, of which, 98% were in senior secured debt (first and second lien secured loans and senior secured bonds).
   

FSIC II’s portfolio consisted of investments in 142 portfolio companies as of March 31, 2017.
   

Core investment strategies represented 94% of the portfolio by fair value as of March 31, 2017, including 81% in direct originations and 13% in opportunistic investments. Broadly syndicated/other investments represented 6% of the portfolio by fair value as of March 31, 2017. 2
   

Gross portfolio yield prior to leverage (based on amortized cost and excluding non-income producing assets) was 9.9% as of March 31, 2017, compared to 10.1% as of December 31, 2016. 3
   

Five investments were on non-accrual as of March 31, 2017, representing 0.6% of the investment portfolio based on fair value.4

The determination of the tax attributes of FSIC II’s distributions is made annually as of the end of its fiscal year based upon its taxable income and distributions paid, in each case, for the full year.
