In a press release dated February 22, 2017, Safety Insurance Group, Inc. (the “Registrant”) announced its fourth quarter 2016 results. The Registrant’s press release dated February 22, 2017 is furnished herewith as Exhibit 99.1.

(b) On February 22, 2017, A. Richard Caputo, Jr., a member of the Company’s Board of Directors, communicated his intention to resign effective immediately. Mr. Caputo was a member of the Company’s Board of Directors since June of 2001.
