Item 8.01        Other Events

 

Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”) has settled all claims, including claims for contribution from its insurer, relating to actions by a former employee of CommerceFirst Bank, which was acquired by the Company in 2012, that were the subject of an adverse jury verdict. As a result of the settlement, the Company will recapture approximately $4.6 million of its litigation reserve in the fourth quarter.
