On July 8, 2014, Career Education Corporation (the “Company”) received notification that the Higher Learning Commission (“HLC”) acted to continue the accreditation of American InterContinental University (“AIU”). The next reaffirmation of accreditation is scheduled for 2023-2024. AIU will have a comprehensive evaluation in 2017-18 and was asked to provide two interim monitoring reports to HLC, which will be completed by the end of January 2015.
AIU issued a press release regarding the reaffirmation of accreditation by HLC on July 17, 2014, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit 99.1, and the information contained therein is incorporated herein by reference.
