Item 8.01. Other Events.
Effective as of June 1, 2014, Astoria Financial Corporation’s (the “Company’s”) wholly owned subsidiary, Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association, has amended its corporate charter to change its name to Astoria Bank. Astoria Bank remains a federal savings association regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. This change is not expected to have a material impact on the Company’s financial condition or results of operations. A copy of the press release announcing this change, dated June 1, 2014, is attached as an exhibit to this report.
