Item 8.01. Other Events.
Varian Medical Systems, Inc. (the “Company”) has entered into a contract to equip a new proton therapy center at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio. The Company will provide its ProBeam™ proton therapy system for two clinical treatment rooms, as well as non-clinical equipment for Cincinnati Children’s research facility. The Company is beginning production of the system and plans to commence installation in 2015. The total value of the contract is approximately $50 million. The Company expects to book this order in its second fiscal quarter of 2014.
