Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
(b) On April 16, 2013, Ms. Pastora San Juan Cafferty, a director of Waste Management, Inc. (the “Company”) and a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee and the Management Development and Compensation Committee of the board of directors of the Company, passed away. Ms. Cafferty was planning to retire from the board of directors at the May 10, 2013 annual meeting and was not standing for re-election at such annual meeting.
Ms. Cafferty provided dedicated and distinguished service on the Company’s board of directors for almost two decades. The Company is tremendously grateful to Ms. Cafferty for her wisdom, guidance and commitment to the highest level of integrity.
