ITEM 7.01 — REGULATION FD DISCLOSURE

Arkansas Best Corporation (Nasdaq: ABFS) (the “Company”) is providing the following update on the most recent information related to the Company’s fourth quarter 2012 financial results and business trends. ABF Freight System, Inc. (“ABF”) is the largest subsidiary of the Company.

ABF’s financial metrics and business trends for fourth quarter 2012 to-date, through November 11, 2012, versus the same period last year:

·                  Billed revenue decreased approximately 1%

·                  Total billed revenue per hundredweight increased approximately 1.1%. This mid-quarter yield figure has not been adjusted for changes in account mix and freight profile.

·                  Tonnage per day decreased approximately 1.7%. Without the effects of Hurricane Sandy, management estimates that tonnage per day would have decreased by approximately one half percent (0.5%).

In recent years, without regard to the impact of weather events, the trend of change in ABF’s operating ratio between third quarter and fourth quarter is an average increase of nearly four points.
