As previously disclosed in the Current Report on Form 8-K filed on February 22, 2012 by Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (the “Company”), the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) elected Deborah M. Fretz to serve as a director on the Board on February 22, 2012. On March 14, 2012, the Board appointed Ms. Fretz to the Audit and Compensation Committees of the Board effective on May 16, 2012.
