Item 8.01.              Other Events

On August 26, 2011, HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the Company had declared a cash dividend of $0.155 per share on its common stock.  The cash dividend is payable on or about October 17, 2011 to holders of record as of October 3, 2011.  A copy of the press release is attached to this Current Report as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein solely for purposes of this Item 8.01.
