On August 3, 2011, NewStar Financial, Inc. issued a press release announcing results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011. The press release is furnished herewith as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and incorporated herein by reference.

On August 1, 2011, NewStar Financial, Inc. called the NewStar Commercial Loan Trust 2009-1 (the “2009-1 CLO”), which was the term debt securitization completed in January 2010. The 2009-1 CLO was called in accordance with its terms without penalty.
