Item 8.01                     Other Events.

On July 11, 2011, La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company (the “Company”) reported that since July 8, 2011 it had converted approximately 67 shares of Series C-11 Convertible Preferred Stock into a combined total of 11,172,330 shares of common stock. Following these conversions, the Company had a total of 45,794,149 shares of common stock issued and outstanding as of July 11, 2011.
