Departure of a Named Executive Officer

Brent H. Hamann, Senior Vice President, Annuity & Life, has decided to leave Horace Mann Educators Corporation (the “Company”) effective May 15, 2011.

As the Company conducts a search for Mr. Hamann’s successor, its Annuity and Life segments will report to Stephen P. Cardinal, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
