On December 22, 2010, Patriot Coal Corporation (the “Company”) issued a press release
announcing the resignations of Mr. Robb E. Turner and Mr. John F. Erhard from the Board of
Directors of the Company effective today.
A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by
reference.
