Item 2.01           Completion of Acquisition or Disposition of Assets.

 

On June 30, 2010, Behringer Harvard Multifamily REIT I, Inc. (which may be referred to herein as the “Registrant,” “we,” “our” or “us”) acquired a fee simple interest in a mixed-use development located in Chicago, Illinois, commonly known as Burnham Pointe (“Burnham Pointe”) through Behringer Harvard Burnham, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Behringer Harvard Multifamily OP I LP, our operating partnership, from an unaffiliated seller, Stark Burnham Pointe LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company.

 

Burnham Pointe is a 298-unit multifamily community with approximately 16,000 square feet of retail space and amenities including a fitness center, an adjacent parking garage and a pool, spa and sundeck.  Burnham Pointe, which was completed in 2008, has an average unit size of 1,010 square feet.

 

The purchase price for Burnham Pointe was approximately $88.0 million, excluding closing costs.  We funded the purchase price with proceeds from our initial public offering.  We may later place mortgage debt on the community.
