Item 8.01. Other Events.
On May 18, 2010, Inverness Medical Innovations, Inc. issued a press release announcing that it
will ask shareholders at its annual meeting of shareholders, scheduled to be held on July 14, 2010,
to approve a proposal to change its name to Alere Inc. A copy of the press release is filed as an
exhibit to this report under Item 9.01.
